School starts again in less than 3 weeks.
Good thing because Hailey, Makayla, and I are running out of things to do.
It seems like a few of our days lately have dissolved into fights, falls, or frustration.
We did find one more park to visit-a new one, recently opened on the west end.
On the day we were there, the temperature reached 103 degrees.
This little play space, fun as it is, has virtually no shade.
Even worse, there are no bathrooms.
One of us could only stand about 30 minutes before
needing some air conditioning and
a bathroom. That someone, not pictured here, mentioned ice cream, too. Does it seem like the three of us eat lots of ice cream? Yeah, I'm sure that's just an illusion.
By the way, Hailey tells me water
tastes better when put in a paper cup and sipped with a straw, and Makayla wholeheartedly agreed. Hmm. You learn something new everyday.
We brought our overheated selves home and could hardly get changed and into the pool fast enough.
Grandma even brought lunch to the pool.
Feeling much happier after our swim.
Things got even better a few days later when we had a couple of visitors.
Poor Brinlee! She wanted some ice cream.
After dropping things off in Portland, the Pearsons turned around and drove to Fairfield so that McKay could help his dad for a little while before school started. His dad owns a business that brings in fresh drinking water to firemen. We were thrilled when Ashley and Brinlee drove the extra 5 hours from Fairfield to come stay with us.
We were so happy to see them, we took them to our favorite park--Oasis. You can imagine how excited Brinlee is about how Hailey never leaves her side.
On the other hand, Makayla seems perfectly content to swim, with or without Brinlee,
and Brinlee seems happiest when she can avoid both of their love.
How fun to have a bonus visit from the Pearsons! I'm just not going to think about how long it will be before I see them again.
A playground with no benches and no shade? That was either a male planner (the same one who only put one bathroom in our church) or a young, single person. As far as Ashley goes, I think you need to go stock her freezer with ice cream in a week or so.
ReplyDeleteNice to have a visit from Ashley and I'm shocked that you like ice cream. Never could have seen that coming.
