May, Part 3 Home Again

After an extremely fun time in Oregon, we returned home to find a backyard full of a few of the other grand kids I've been missing. Ken, Kailyn, Jordan, and Ava went on a father-daughter camp out, and Shelly, Caden, Chase, and Hannah came to Billings. Seems fair.

What a great way to kick off summer.

We did some swimming

floating (This cute girl Hannah looks so much like Ava. Good luck figuring family pictures out in 20 years, Shelly.),

and just being cool.

I'm so thankful I've got grandchildren to go get ice cream with.

We headed out to Riverfront.

Checking out some funky ducks.

We always stop and get several loaves of day-old bread.

There were scads of Canadian Goslings.

They kind of have an "Ugly Duckling" look to them.

Watching a goose  coming in for a landing.

Nine year old Caden is sure growing up!

It doesn't take long for the babies to figure out these little people have food for them.

Gaggles of Goslings.

Watch out for the bird poop.

The adult geese were a little more aggressive than usual. They didn't love it when you got between them and their babies. Makayla is going to let Caden deal with that problem.

That's a lot of offspring to put to bed at night,

and a lot of teenagers to keep in line.

No Hailey, you can't take one home.

There were also some ducklings.

You look a little nervous, Chase. I don't blame you. Those geese are vicious.

Wild roses.

Wild rose picker.

Picked wild rose holder.

Looking for fish.

Ah, the carefree days of summer.

The next day we went to the zoo.

There was a Renaissance Fair going on at the zoo. We joined some dancers.

Checking out the horses. Not sure what Amy's doing--her "don't hate me cause I'm beautiful" pose?

Some familiar faces.

Some scary faces.

Watching the fish float by.

Checking out the bears.

There were bunches of fun Renaissance things to see, including magic tricks.

I'm sure magic tricks were a part of the renaissance, right?

The river otter were out and showing off.

I guess someone wasn't impressed by the zoo.

Taming the wild beasts.

Getting a lizard lesson.

Our next stop was Scheels, where Thomas Jefferson was available to give us a history lesson.

I need to install one of these in my house.  The grandkids would be entertained for hours.
Yeah! May is done, on to June!

  1. How fun that the cousins can get together. I'm sure you all are responsible for an exploding Canadian geese population in Billings.

  2. Quite a gaggle of goslings and a gaggle of grandkids.
