#Jonesfamilyreunion2015 Day Two

Day two started with a nice little hike.

We drove to the East Inlet of Rocky Mountain Park.

Stan and Shelly discussed strategy

and we were off. Hikes are a terrific way to burn off some energy, see the great outdoors, and take some pictures.

We found all kinds of lovely things along the trail like these cute cousins,

and this darling log-topper.

Jessica, you're still a young thing, but we are kicking you out

of the kid picture.

I just can't get enough of this gorgeous scenery, or these lovable kids.

Here's the best way to travel.

Wow! Can I take this view home and put it in my backyard?

We hadn't gotten very far when

Sharp-eyed Ken spotted a moose out in a field.

Can you see him? We were stopped on our way out by a fellow hiker who told us to freeze because that same moose was ambling across our path and up the hill on the other side. We couldn't see him where we stood, but we were willing to avoid a moose incident by trusting that was true.

Ava contemplating the meaning of life.

Just in case you're wondering, we're ignoring those clouds. It (briefly) rained yesterday when it wasn't suppose to and didn't rain on the days it was in the forecast, like today.

Three pretty blondes.

When we are all together, the size of our crew is becoming significant. We feel pretty confident grizzly bears see us and move on.

Ava wanted to make sure I was aware of and felt sad about that owie on her knee from several weeks ago. What? You don't see it? Shh! Neither did I.

Krew, on the other hand, wanted me to know he had actual scraps, bruises, and scabs all over his leg. His were in fact very visible, even more so in person than in this picture.

Stan and I brought each of the grandkids a water bottle with their name on it. They were pretty handy to have with all these water-guzzlers.

Cute Butlers. When I told Hailey the Butlers were coming to the cabin, she was quite excited and asked if there were maids, too.  That would have been nice.

 Hanging out with Uncle Jorden.
Makayla, Chase, Krew, Caden, Brinlee, Myla, and Jorden

 Me and

 some of my

beautiful daughters.

Careful Myla, we don't want your face to get stuck that way.

Cute Backmans.

 Hailey is growing up.

If you fall, Grandma will find a magic flower to rub on your owie, making it possible for you to keep walking. It works every time.

In addition to that moose, we saw a couple of mountain goats.

We took a small detour on the way down to Adams Falls.

A fellow hiker offered to take a picture of our little group,

 Stan and Jessica

 More family group pictures:
The Amy Joneses

 Pearsons,

and Bassetts. Clearly, we need to do this again because I managed to miss the Scott Joneses.

 Stan and Megan.

Hailey particularly loves playing with Caden and Brinlee and kept asking me to take pictures of the three of them.

We decided we'd hiked enough for one day and headed home.

Pearsons, I'm sure Makayla would be willing to be your baby pusher if you wanted to borrow her for the summer.

After lunch, we headed to Winter Park

and rode the tram up the mountain.

Winter Park is one of those ski resorts

that has been expanded to included summer activities.

As you can see, the tram ride is highly terrifying.

Is there a view anywhere in Colorado that ISN'T amazing?

We spent some time in downtown, doing all sorts of fun things:

 Grandpa and Koen hanging out.

We migrated to the most important place in town.

Playing "My Hand is on Top" with grandpa.

Some ice cream-loving genes are worth passing on.

Nearly all the kids and grandkids are pro-ice cream. Unlike Hailey, Makayla is anti-ice cream.  She got a smoothie. I still love her.

The wait was long, but the ice cream was top-notch.

I offered Nora a bite of my ice cream, and as soon as I held it out to her, she grabbed it like a starvation victim, and finished it off in a bite or two.

Winter Park had all kinds of giant games to play.

Ken contemplates his next Jenga move.

Kailyn and Ashley tried it, too.

What to do with your old skis

after you break a leg three or four times.

It's been a day of cousin fun. What more could you ask for?

Winter Park had so much to do, we decided to return the next day when we had more time to do the things we missed.

  1. You have a lot of good pictures that I don't have. Loved this day, especially that ice cream. I want to go back just for that!

  2. You know what? I think you should move to Colorado. Build a big house there, and then everyone can come visit you. In fact, the Cannons could have their next reunion using your house as a base camp! Wouldn't that be FUN? Make sure all these cuties are nearby. I'd love to see them all.
