Life As Usual

Now that school is in full swing, Hailey and Makayla are getting back to Life As Usual. Our time together is a little more limited, and I've been trying to find outside things to do while the weather is nice. We took a walk up Skeleton Cliff.

We soaked up some sunshine.

There's a nice trail that goes up the mountain, but these two

seemed to prefer the mountain goat route.

To be honest, Makayla didn't want to hike at all.

Good sister Hailey dragged her along anyway.

Smile, Makayla! The fresh air is good for you!

Since I heartlessly forced Makayla to get exercise and fresh air, I let her choose the activity the next day. She chose to make sugar cookies. Wow. I did NOT see that coming.

Hailey helped by licking the beaters for us. Thanks, Hailey!

The next day we visited the local art museum. Hailey has been begging to visit this place since summer started. They've got a kid-friendly exhibit right now, and so I decided this would be a good time for a look.

Not sure where these two get their posing skills.

Checking out the interactive video on color.

That hand symbol with the no-no red circle is a reminder not to touch. I love that they also had a few hands indicating you can touch the sample to feel what the bigger picture is like.

As tempting as it is, these two did a good job not touching anything.

Hailey is pointing out how these pictures look like the art by Great Grandma Jones in the cowboy room at the cabin.

Some of the art is weird.

Some of the art is really weird.

Here's the exhibit we came to see.

All of the art in this part of the building is made from Legos. Every single part.

Hailey and Makayla were distressed that several of these pieces had missing parts that were crumbling around them,

but I pointed out that maybe they were coming together, not falling apart. They liked that idea.

There are some really clever pieces.

Hailey thought this one was "gross". I wonder how many years that thought will last.

This is Makayla's and Hailey's favorite piece. Here, they pretend pet the pretend dog.

They also had tons of Legos to make your own creations. Hailey whispered to me, "Don't tell anyone, but I like boy's toys." I told her I did too, and there's no such thing as toys that only boys are allowed to play with.

The girls played for an hour with the Legos before it was time to go. It's going to be hard to top this adventure....

  1. The one exhibit looked like your remodel at the rental. Maybe Stan does take after his mother? Cool Lego art.

  2. I am so impressed by the number of places you find to visit in Billings. You've got a lot to do up there!
