Thursdays

,Amy has taken on an extra Thursday evening job, helping one of her sicker patients (she's a home healthcare worker and newly promoted office staff person). That means Hailey, Makayla, and I have a longer day together every Thursday.

Today we made ghosts. Scary ghosts.
We took the glass pop bottles I sometimes use for vases and made a foil ball for the head. Makayla is upset because her foil head is lopsided.

We draped them with cheesecloth and sprayed them with craft fabric stiffener.

We made one bigger ghost, using a large vase. Hailey figured out how to make a foil structure for the arms.

It took about an hour for the ghosts to dry, then we glued on paper punch eyes and used clear thread to hang them from the chandelier.

Pretty scary, huh? Grandpa was terrified when he came home and saw them, just as Makayla hoped.

Here's the big one. I may sneak bigger eyes on him when no one is looking.

Hailey and Makayla have become homemade bread addicts at my house, so we made some dough while we waited for the ghosts to dry. You can see their kneading technique is still evolving.

Their favorite part is eating raw dough, despite my long-winded story I learned from MY grandma about how the yeast will grow in your tummy until you burst.

We dyed the dough orange-ish and shaped it into pumpkin-ish shapes.

We pulled them out of the oven just in time to

grab a bite before heading off to soccer practice.
