Halloween this year just kind of did me in. Remember the days when we dressed up ONE DAY and went trick-or-treating ONE DAY??
Those days are gone.
Over the weekend, we carved pumpkins.
There's that tongue.
It's always good to get Grandpa involved.
Cleaning out the pumpkin is a messy chore
and pretty time consuming.
Makayla started sampling the pumpkin guts.
She moved on to chomping on the pumpkin lid.
I dunno know--can eating uncooked pumpkin innards make you crazy?
Hailey gingerly tried a bite, too.
The spooky finished products.
Ready to greet our neighborhood trick-or-treaters in several days.
On Monday the school was having a "Monster Mash". Amy was still sick, so I dressed up the girls
and headed to the school. It. Was. Chaos. Not the good kind...
Tuesday was our ward trunk or treat.
We have already had our fill of Halloween activities, but
Amy pulled Ariel and
pink leopard together.
and we headed to the party.
We did some pumpkin bowling
Oh great, a strike! More candy prizes!
Because we still live in Montana, it had gotten cold and snowy and truck or treat turned into door to door trick or treat.
Today Hailey made a cute little decorated pumpkin at school and Makayla got a bag full of candy at pre-school. Oh good! We haven't had nearly enough candy yet!
I'm now in total Halloween overload, and insisted the girls do something decidedly unHalloweenish. Makayla loves the set of toys with a million pieces
while Hailey prefers the marble thingy that insures Grandma will have to be involved, helping figure out how to put it together.
After we pulled out all the toys and spread them around, I convinced the girls it would be fun to rake the 3 inches of leaves off of the still snowy lawn.
Hailey: This is fun! It's so fun you only have to pay me a dollar!
Me: Hmm. But that's a dollar more than I'm planning to pay you.
Makayla: We are farmers! Farmers rake! Maybe we are cowboy farmers!
Me: We are farmers if those trees are cows and these leaves are manure.
My patent-pending leave crushers.
Someone got a little crazy. Too much sugar, no doubt-Hailey is clucking like a chicken, Makayla is oinking. I hope the neighbors aren't looking out their window.
When Amy and Grandpa got home, they helped me move the recycling can to the curb.
Imagine their surprise when they looked to see what was making things so heavy.
They were shocked! Shocked, I tell you!!
We made our traditional Halloween meal.
It may LOOK like root beer, but trust us, it's witch's brew.
We did a little homework (What? Teachers give out homework on holidays??).
Then these two cuties got dressed up one last time. The 3490 pieces of candy they've collected so far this week just aren't enough. Best go to the neighbors and beg for more.
(Makayla: Princesses don't wear coats.)

Happy Halloween! Please don't come back for a year!!
